Wander around Corralejo Old Town located around the old harbour
where local fishermen ply their trade, The Old Town is home to Playa
la Clavellina, a small sheltered beach offering safe bathing.
Take advantage of Fuerteventura's sunny climate and unwind in the
larger beaches dotted around Corralejo and the northern coast of
Fuerteventura, surrounded by miles of sand dunes that form a nature
reserve. Corralejo and nearby Flag Beach is a haven for watersports
aficionados who spend their days in various coastal locations surfing,
windsurfing or kite boarding.
The coastal stretch between Corralejo and Lanzarote known as the
Estrecho
de la Bocaina offers perfect windsurfing conditions - the
trade winds are channelled down here. The channelling of the trade
winds down the stretch of coast between Lanzarote and Corralejo,
mostly on flat water make for perfect year round windsurfing and
surfing conditions.
Cyclists and hikers are equally well catered for as the island boasts
a network of off-road tracks and distances can be travelled to suit
your fitness level.
Enjoy a round or two of golf at Corralejo Golf Course. Novices and
seasoned golfers are welcome and two rounds at this 9 hole course
costs 20 euros and 13 euros for one round. Golf clubs can be hired
for a small fee.
Alternatively, embark on a varied choice of adventure tours around
Fuerteventura run by operators such as Fuerte Trike. Trike tours,
buggy tours, day excursions around the island and quad bike tours
prove to be popular amongst visitors.
Corralejo is home to an excellent variety of shops to browse in
or make a purchase for your loved one(s). A short walk from the
apartment in Las Dunas, the El Campanario Shopping Centre is opened
from 10am to 10pm daily. Named for it's imposing bell tower, shoppers
and visitors can ascend el campanario for panoramic vistas around
Correlejo and beyond. A full range of merchandise is available here
including sports goods, jewellery, mobile phones, clothing, perfumes
and cosmetics. On Sundays, a canarian market is held in the public
square that also stages live musical events. There is also a supermarket
for purchasing groceries.
The usual tourist shops are found in the main street of Corralejo
selling goods such as beach towels and souvenirs and a host of specialty
shops are located in the town's charming back streets. A product
that you will find in abundance in Fuerteventura is Aloe Vera, famously
grown and processed in Fuerteventura and other Canary Islands. Renowned
for its rejuvenating and soothing properties, Aloe Vera is a popular
remedy for sunburn.
Corralejo Harbour and Marina
Harbouring a busy port and marina and a ferry port for ferries between
Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, Corralejo Harbour and Marina offers
a variety of tourist orientated activities including boat trips
to Lanzarote and Isla de Lobos, snorkelling and diving trips, fishing
and excursions on glass bottom boats.
